Scholarship Applications

Below is information about our currently available scholarships.  All applications are due by midnight, September 30, 2017, in order to be eligible for review.  There are no application fees and all eligible members are encouraged to apply.  Please read each description carefully and have all relevant information available and ready to submit at the time of application.  Applications that do not include the required form and properly formatted files will be disqualified from the review process.  Information submitted may be used in the annual Sketchbook publication and for promotional purposes.

Awards for New Initiate and Graduating Senior Recipients:

$1,000 - First Place
$750 - Second Place
$500 - Third Place
$250 - Honorable Mention

New Initiate Scholarship

Available to all initiates in their first year of Kappa Pi.  Please have the following information available in order to apply to this scholarship:

Official Kappa Pi chapter name, name of university/college, date of initiation, mailing address, email address, portfolio of 5 images, artist statement, and letter of support from your faculty sponsor.  

Portfolios must include 5 images of work and saved as one .pdf file.   There is a maximum file size of 25MB, so please compress each image individually before you create the .pdf document to make sure it will attach to the form.  Each image must also include the title of the artwork, media, dimensions (HxWxD), and year created.  For video submissions use .mp4 or .mov using the h264 codec with a maximum runtime demo of two minutes. The final submission should be formatted to include artists first name, last name, and new initiate
(i.e., john_doe_newinitiate.pdf)

Artist Statements must not exceed one page in length and must be relevant to the work being submitted for review.

Letters of Support from faculty sponsors should speak to the quality, need, and level of commitment of the applicant as well as confirm that the applicant is a new initiate in their first two semester of Kappa Pi.  Letters of support should be sent directly from the faculty sponsor and can be emailed to info@kappapiart.com.  Please include the students name and name of scholarship in the subject line of the email. (i.e., Jane Doe - New Initiate Scholarship)


Graduating Senior Scholarship

Available to all active members of Kappa Pi in their final two semesters of school.  Please have the following information available in order to apply to this scholarship:

Official Kappa Pi chapter name, name of university/college, expected semester of graduation, mailing address, email address, portfolio of 5 images, statement of intent, and a letter of support from your faculty sponsor.

Letters of Intent should be no longer than one page describing your goals after graduation and how the scholarship will help you achieve those goals.    

The Letter of Support from your faculty sponsor should speak to the quality, need, and level of commitment of the applicant as well as confirm that the applicant is in their final two semesters before graduation.  Letters of support should be sent directly from the faculty sponsor and can be emailed to  info@kappapiart.com.  Please include the students name and name of scholarship in the subject line of the email. (i.e., John Doe - Graduating Senior Scholarship)

Faculty Sponsor Scholarship

Eligible to all current Kappa Pi faculty sponsors of active chapters.  Approved use of the professional development funds include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Travel
  • Supplies/equipment purchases
  • Registration/application fees
  • Shipping fees
  • Kappa Pi activity funds
  • Independent project funding

Kappa Pi has up to $10,000 available for funding during the 2017-2018 academic year

Please have the following information available in order to apply to this scholarship:

Official Kappa Pi chapter name, name of university/college, mailing address, email address, requested amount of funding, statement of intent, and current resume.

Statements of Intent should include a description of the proposed project, address how the scholarship funds will be spent, and how receiving the funds will help benefit your chapter of Kappa Pi International Art Honor Society.
